It's been awhile

Greetings adventure fans. welcome to the new way of conveying the great adventure. I was finding that of lot of you were not receiving my emails because your accounts were too small to accept all the pictures. So, my nephew, Charles, graciously set up this blog for me. It will also help me to remeber where I left off, no small feet.

So, a little catch up.

Well, we got through the holiday's. We had Rory's parents, Reed and Sherri's daughter and husband, Sherri's nephew, Sam and the grandchildren. We had a good time, the kids loved it and I'm very glad it's over. This is Sam, baby Jake 14 months, Bailey 7, Sammy 3

On to January.

January is cruise month. Up to this point we have been setting up the company, buying equipment, getting an accountant and stuff like that. Time for a break. We go on a cruise every January with our good friends Frank and Ellen, who live in Florida We drove down and stopped along the way to see other friends and the odd pottery shop along the way. A good time was had by all as usual. We were gone 21/2 weeks. We swung by Rocky Mount on the way back to check on the house(still not sold) and to see other friends. It really was a good trip.

February

When we got back Reed and Sherri and Justin the three dogs and two horses were ready to move out. They bought a small trailer home and had it set on the land. So now they live on the land and we are on our own. It all worked out just fine for all of us. This sounds like it was easy but it really did take some time.

March

Now we are into it. Fence, we need to build fence. Three miles of fence all told. So, we started. Rory and Reed have some experience with this, although not goat fence, Sherri and I have none. Let's talk about work. Is it hard work to build a fence? You bet it is!! 6 to 8 hours of manual labor everyday it doesn't rain. We are in the middle of a drought. It doesn't rain often. Believe me when I tell you we pray for rain. Now for the pictures. This is the building of the west fence for the first pasture. Mind you we will have 4 pastures. This first one took us a month. We started with the worst one first. We had a trac hoe come in and knock down a 20 foot fire break line. It left a lot to clean up. The briars are unbelievable. You'd think I would have at least lost a few pounds. Not an ounce! Oh well.

Patrice,
You look great!!! All that hard work must really agree with you. The sky is beautiful, but the ground looks dry.
I wish you guys good luck. I don't know how this thing works - do you send an e-mail to all that you've updated the site - or do I just go back in occassionally to see what you're up to?

Hey Patrice- great blog page and pictures. Now, if we can only determine how to enlarge the picture postings so we can actually see the details we will be happy. Keep on fencing. But don't tell anyone in OK you are a fencing master. They will either think you're some kind of strange French sword fighter or a criminal who handles stolen goods! Happy Birthday.
