Who ever heard of thunder sleet? but we have it here in Oklahoma, big boomers and ice falling out of the sky! Amazing This is not snow in these pictures, just ice. We were housebound for a few days again. The good news is all survived and we even had a couple more babies. These are Billy Bob's first. He's our main man and we have been anxiously waiting to see what he would give us. Well, we have a boy and a girl. Billy Jim
and Baby girl.
They are very energetic and growing fast, just what we wanted. We are learning so much about goats and one of those things is that we won't be having winter babies next year if we can help it. We have lost a few and we think spring babies is a much better plan. So Billy Bob and the rest of the boys will have a bachelor pasture for most of the summer saving up his strength for the fall breeding season. Our friend Frank (remember "Frank's Fence" from last year?) will be coming in March and another round of fence building will commence.
The house is pretty much at a standstill. Too much ice on the slab and it's been kinda cold. Notice my new winter outfit, the outhouse and the big house in the background. The hat was a Christmas gift from my in laws (they really do love me I swear) and I wear it!! We have been just trying to get there and keep up with feeding and water. Water has been the big problem as it freezes and goats don't like cold water not alone frozen water. We have some of the new mommas penned up with their babies in the barn and all the rest of the goats in the barn and back paddock area. That way we can keep a close eye on them and monitor for any changes. I think this has helped with cutting down our losses since we can try and handle any problems we see quickly. By next winter we hope to have the water lines run with heaters so we won't have this problem. This time last year it was 75 degrees and I was hoping that this year would be the same. But, we are trying to build a house this year so of course it's the coldest winter in many years. And,m let's not forget the Bear. We always need some pictures of him

He is just under 5 months old now and probably weighs in at about 60 lbs. He still hasn't figured out that the house is not the pee and poop spot but we are getting better. Mostly because he wants to be outside most of the time. But he still is a beauty. Rory has taught him how to eat cheese doodles and now when he wants to have a treat or just eat he just barks at us until we feed him. I'm not sure that this will be cute for very long.
Taking more pictures today so, till next time..........
